Iowa Balance of State CoC - CoC Systems Coordinator

Job Title: CoC Systems Coordinator Reports to: CoC Associate Director

Status: Full-time, Exempt Location: Remote

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Iowa Balance of State CoC (IA BoS CoC) Associate Director and the Iowa Balance of State CoC Board of Directors, this position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and analyzing engagement and education with community relations with the systems of care and community partners. This position will engage with businesses and faith-based partners to educate and enhance relationships across the Balance of State.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Actively work to expand CoC-level partnerships across various systems of care, businesses, and faith-based partners. Identify potential new partners and draft partnership agreements to formalize collaborations.

  • Work with systems of care, funders, and other partners to improve the performance of the IA BoS CoC coordinated entry system, ensuring full participation by all agencies.

  • Serve as a representative for the IA BoS CoC at meetings, conferences, and other relevant venues.

  • Develop, implement, and organize events and volunteer initiatives aimed at increasing education on homeless services. These events will foster community awareness and engagement.

  • Coordinate community outreach programs and special events that align with the mission of the IA BoS CoC. These initiatives should enhance the organization's visibility and impact.

  • Produce, publish, and schedule social media content to support community relations and promote the organization's mission.

  • Develop various content pieces that focus on education and advocacy, supporting the IA BoS CoC mission to end homelessness.

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to create and distribute positive publicity materials through various channels.

  • Respond to and address inquiries from community members and other interested parties, offering referrals to additional community resources and programs as needed.

  • Support the Associate Director in planning and coordinating special events hosted by the IA BoS CoC.

  • Offer training and technical assistance to systems of care, community partners, businesses, and faith- based partners to enhance their effectiveness and collaboration.

  • Ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with Coordinated Service Regions (CSRs) and other systems of care and community partners within the IA BoS CoC.

  • Work with the Board of Directors and CoC staff to set priorities, coordinate strategic planning, and make informed resource allocation decisions for available funding.

  • Lead and support the Strategic Planning Task Group to achieve desired strategic outcomes for the IA BoS CoC.

  • Collaborate with other CoC staff and Task Groups to assist in expanding community knowledge and achieving desired strategic goals.

  • Design and conduct surveys to collect data, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of capacity- building activities.

  • Support CoC staff with the Planning Grant application and Consolidated Application processes.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors, CoC Director, or CoC Associate Director as necessary to the management of the Iowa Balance of State CoC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or combined equivalent of education and experience (public policy, sociology, program evaluation, social sciences or similar). We value practical and/or lived experience and recognize that it can often provide the skills and knowledge needed for this role. Therefore, equivalent professional and/or life experience(s) is always considered in lieu of formal education.

  • Experience with HUD-administered grant programs preferred.

  • Knowledge of HUD and other federal program policies and requirements related to CoC programs.

  • Knowledge and understanding of homelessness and/or other human service programs.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and assignments.

  • Team player and collaborator with a positive attitude.

Other Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance.

Travel/Work Schedule

  • Occasional local, inter-office, regional, and national travel for community outreach/involvement, industry networking, etc. (generally less than one week for each occurrence).

  • Schedule may fluctuate based on workload.
