Wyoming will conduct the Point in Time (PIT) and Housing Inventory Count (HIC) on the night of January 24, 2024 (Wednesday night into Thursday). These federal reports are designed to assess the total number of clients experiencing homelessness on a single night and the total number of beds available to serve those clients.
The PIT consists of a Sheltered and Unsheltered count. The Sheltered PIT focuses on clients staying in Emergency Shelter, Safe Havens, and Transitional Housing. The Unsheltered PIT focuses on clients staying on the streets, in their car, or in any place not meant for habitation.
The HIC looks at beds available in temporary residential settings (Emergency Shelter, Safe Haven, and Transitional Housing) and permanent housing settings (Rapid ReHousing, Permanent Supportive Housing, and Other Permanent Housing).
Both the PIT and HIC collect data from agencies that participate in HMIS as well as those that do not participate in HMIS.
ICA will facilitate the Sheltered PIT and HIC. Your CoCs will facilitate the Unsheltered PIT.
